THE SUNFLOWER QUEEN AND THE FALLEN KNIGHT

THE SUNFLOWER QUEEN AND THE FALLEN KNIGHT

Tears kept falling from his face
He deserved to be disgraced
He swore an oath to protect the land
And the lives of many were in his hand
He swore an oath to protect the Queen
He weakened and fell from his only dream
To protect all and keep the kingdom from harm
As he let in the raiders from Fa’harn
They went through the kingdom, harming all
And he himself ignored the Queen’s call
And now he stands, here in the throne room
He knew he would become a fallen knight very soon
It broke his soul to see the look in her eyes
He let her down, and for that he wanted to die
He wish he could go back and change what he done
But he broke his oath and deserved sympathy from no one
He knew the words she was going to say next
He waited for the pain to come with every labored breath
“You are now disgraced and have become a Fallen Knight
You have broken the kingdom’s oath and fallen from the light
Now in darkness for life you will be
You are banished from this kingdom, no more of it you will see.”
He left the throne room and saw the looks of others
He sobbed uncontrollably as he said goodbye to his brother
He was still a Knight, he stayed true to his word
It was he who messed up, this punishment he deserved
He passed through the gates with some food and his horse
His meager belongings and his trusty sword
The one he used to use when he defended her honor
And now he has no honor and certain to be a goner
He looks back at the wonderful kingdom he loved
But he deserves this banishment, yes he does
He rides off, heading off into the dangerous wilds
A place that’s dangerous to every man, woman and child
He is an oath breaker, a Fallen Knight who deserves no respect
So now what happens to him, he deserves whatever he gets
His soul is broken, never again to be healed
He regrets his mistake, he wished it wasn’t real
But it was real and now he must pay for what he’s done
To be banished from the kingdom forever and live life under the burning suns.
